Parish & Community Outreach Activities

St Michael & All Angels offers a number of activities to suit a variety of interests within the parish and wider community.

Mike's Movies

The first Monday of most months (excepting public holidays), interested parishioners and friends meet at a local cinema to view the latest movie release, and enjoy a coffee and a chat afterwards. The movie day offers a great opportunity to catch up with friends, meet some of the St Michael & All Angels family, and gather socially as a community.

Tuesday Games Afternoon

Tuesday afternoons find our centre abuzz with laughter and chatter with friends and parishioners.  We have a dedicated group of Mahjong players, and others who prefer a more active time together playing table tennis.  A wonderful ministry of fun and exercise for body and mind.  It is a great opportunity for meeting new and not so new friends.

On the fourth Thursday morning of most months, we have a small offering of very good pre-loved clothes.  Come along and have a relaxing browse through what is on offer, stay for a coffee and a chat.

Craft Group

This diverse group of people gather on Thursday afternoons from February - December, to create beautiful handcrafts and gifts for our fete or just for fun. Embroidery, quilting, card-making, dressmaking, toys and feltwork, beading and many other crafts are created.  New members, crafts and ideas are always welcome!  One project of particular interest at present, is making beanies, quilts and matinee jackets for premie babies which go to KEMH and the Pregnancy Help House.  A wonderfully friendly 'round the table' ministry. The Craft group motto: Coffee is recommended - Chat is mandatory - Craft is optional! Gales of laughter often echoes through the Church facilities when this group gather.

Friday Roast Lunch

On the first Friday of the month from May to October, we offer the hospitality of a three course luncheon.  People are treated to a set menu of hot soup, roast beef and vegetables and a sticky date pudding for dessert with tea and coffee. Money raised from this community outran to support one of our mission giving projects YouthCare Chaplaincy ( Throw in a few extra gold coins and join the fun of 'progressive raffles' on the day.  These lunches are a wonderful ministry opportunity of hospitality to the community to gather in communion over a wonderful meal.  RSVP essential!
