The parish of St Michael & All Angels’ welcome all who are seeking baptism, either for themselves or for their children.
When a baby or small child is baptised, it is a celebration of new birth, entry into the kingdom of God, and membership of the parish community. This is a joyful occasion for the parents and for the whole congregation at St Michael & All Angels’. In the same way, the St Michael & All Angels congregation are delighted to welcome adults who have decided to be baptised and join the church.
Baptisms take place during worship services of Holy Communion on a Sunday morning.
Setting the Date
Please contact the parish office to discuss possible dates for Baptism.
Dates to avoid: The four weeks of Advent leading up to Christmas, and the six weeks of Lent leading up to Easter. Some other Sundays are also ruled out for practical reasons.
To avoid disappointment, you need to discuss dates with the parish priest well in advance.
The best preparation for baptism is simply coming to the Sunday service of Holy Communion., We ask that you do this for at least a month prior to the baptism date – and, hopefully, happily ever-after as well! Your presence helps you get to know us, and for us to know you. It means that you and your family become part of the parish community ahead of the baptism day, so that when the celebration happens your own happiness is shared by everyone present.
No fee is ever charged for baptism, but most people like to make a donation to the ministry and mission of the church. Your donation can be placed in the collection bowl, in a suitably marked envelope.
